I think I posted the Stonewall infos before once but here again as i cannot find them....

The History of Stonewall Football Club

In March 1991 a gay amateur footballer living in London put an advert in a gay publication asking for like-minded people to contact him. He wanted to encourage gay men to play competitive football and was amazed by the number of replies he received.

Stonewall Football Club was born and was the first gay mens football club in the UK.

The club joined the Sportsmans Senior Sunday Football League that same year and have grown to the extent that we have run up to four teams in a season.

We play against straight opposition in the Middlesex County Football League (Premier and Junior Reserve Division), we also have regular training nights, 5-a-side nights and social evenings.

We have a full dedicated committee.

We are the current British, European, World and Gay Olympic Champions

Stonewall have a Facebook page, where you can be "virtual fans" and get more information.

Perhaps some TeBe fans would be interested in a visit.

Arise Sir Stonewall!

A founder of one of the first gay football teams said he was "pinching himself" after being appointed an MBE.

Londoner Aslie Pitter, 50, was recognised for helping to tackle homophobia after setting up London-based Stonewall FC almost 20 years ago.

He told the BBC it was nerve-racking being one of the first openly gay teams to "put our heads on the block" and start playing Sunday football.

But he said the team had barely received any abuse over the decades.

Mr Pitter, who lives in Balham, south London, now manages Stonewall FC's second team.

He said: "Being black and being gay I thought I might come in for a lot of stick.

"In our first game we were sharing a communal shower with seven other teams and I was pretty nervous.

"But it has never really been a problem."
