Thanks very much for the good information Endi! So maybe we were guilty for their defeat, we brought bad luck to them...

I think here is the right space to tell the general public a bit about our trip to the Negev with Hapoel Katamon.

As you read in the wiki-article, Hapoel Katamon had to make a total restart into this season, playing in the lowest league level. in the middle of sept. on a friday a little TeBe- (and St.Pauli also...) delegation headed for the Bus of the supporters of Katamon who were about to go to an away match in pre-season, scheduled was the first round of a regional cup (like Berliner Pilsner Cup) in Tel Sheva. This is a small Bedouin town which was established in 1968 as a permanent settlement, it´s located next to Be'er Sheva at the northern outskirts of the Negev desert.

The supporters of Hapoel Katamon are very enthusiastic, idealistic and left minded. We soon got in touch with them and smalltalked a lot about football culture, antifascist and antiracist things and likewise. After a two hour ride with the bus we entered the home ground of Tel Sheva which is right in the middle of nowhere (well, almost). The pitch was at the brim of the town,

completely fenced. No entry but just two little lengthy hilltops in a little distance besides the longer sides of the pitch. On one hand side the Katamon supporters,

on the other hand the cars of the Tel Sheva supporters. They were sitting in their air conditioned cars.

It was damn hot and sometimes quite windy. After a while we were carrying desert sand in all parts of our skin and clothes. The Katamons supported their team in ultra-style very enthusiastic throughout almost the whole first half, in the second it was much quieter.

The quality of the game was rather poor, lots of failed passes, lots of kicking the ball high than to keep it on the ground with short pass play. Sometimes it was more interesting to watch little Bedouine boys riding their donkeys all round the fence of the pitch, or the quad-bike of their older brother, than to pay attention to the game.

Very few good combinations. Katamon FC played far better in the second half and created quite some good chances. Inspite that Tel Sheva took the lead with a superb shot from the left corner of the penalty area to the right angle of the posts of the goal. The Tel Sheva supporters were cheering the lead by loud and long lasting honking their klaxons. Quite a bizarr moment.

After several and sometimes even dangerous attacks and chances of Katamon FC, Tel Sheva scored the 2:0 (and final score) with a lot of help by two Katamon-defenders and the goalkeeper.

Although the game was shitty and the result was wrong, we had a funny and interesting time with some quite bizarr situations. After the trip back we discovered an almost empty Jerusalem - it was shabat time (Jerusalem is a very religious city). Nevertheless we found a secular restaurant - and it was a very deliberate decision. The location is called "meat burger" and it is the main sponsor of Katamon FC...
