Fussball in London

Bin demnächst für ein paar Tage auf der Insel. Hat jemand einen Tipp wo man außer den bekannten Vereinen ein interessantes Spiel sehen kann. War beim letzten mal in Chelsea und fand schon die Stimmung auf dem Weg dorthin aggresiv.

I am sorry you did not enjoy your Chelsea experience. I never feel that bothered myself in London but my understanding and speaking the language surely helps. Unless there is a certain rivalry or the game is a derby, you are likely to be very safe at a football game in London, I think. Even if English fans look a little drunk and dangerous they are usually a rather friendly bunch and even those who may want a fight are not looking to pick on unwilling groundhoppers in full view of the police. Since the World Cup in 2006 the attitude towards the "fucking Krauts" has changed a lot as well, most England fans were rather impressed with Germany's performance this year too and I was disgusted to see many of my friends supporting Germany against Spain in the semi-finals.

I would suggest giving the Premier League another try but there are a few good teams in the lower leagues in London that are also worth a visit. I think Hans went to see QPR a few times and Endi is an infamous fan of scummy Leyton Orient. As far as I know both teams have a friendly family atmosphere, reasonable prices for London and a few nice pubs around the ground where you can meet up with home (and sometimes away) fans before and after the games.

as he said. sag ein datum, wir suchen die die passenden begegnungen raus. bei meinem verein leyton orient haben sie leider das stadion verhunzt, daher ist das nicht mehr so schön. aber prinzipiell macht es in den unteren ligen mehr spass, da nicht so teuer und alles noch ein bisschen familiärer und man bekommt (fast) ohne probleme tickets. in brentford fand ichs immer ganz nett und ein ausflug zum afc wimbledon lohnt sich wegen der vereinsgeschichte eigentlich auch immer. southend (hello andy) ist auch nicht so weit und hat das schönste stadion, in dem ich auf der insel war.

war bei meinem letzten londonaufenthalt bei dagenham+redbridge fc, war sehr nett.
als sie herausfanden, dass ich aus berlin bin, wurde ich nach dem spiel noch auf ein bier engeladen und bekam ein poloshirt geschenkt.
damals wars ein fünftligaspiel, sie sind nun in die dritte liga aufgestiegen.
dagenham hat ne eigene tubestation, im osten. von der haltestelle läuft man links ne gerade straße runter, ungefähr zehn minuten, dann wieder links zum ground.
ob sie da noch spielen dürfen, wegen aufstieg, auflagen etc. weiss ich aber nicht.

Erst mal vielen Dank für die vielen Antworten - hat mich sehr gefreut. Ich bin vom 9. - 12.9. in London. Premier League wär natürlich schon gut aber ich werde wahrscheinlich ein bis zwei Kinder an der Backe haben, da ist eine oder zwei Ligen drunter wahrscheinlich schon stressfreier und wahrscheinlich um einiges billiger. Ich setzte mal voraus, dass es auch unterhalb der Premier League eine Fankultur gibt. Wenn wir das in der 5. Liga schaffen, dann sollte das im "motherland of futball" doch auch gehen.

Bin deinem Rat gefolgt. War gute Stimmung und absolut entspannt. Obwohl als "neutral" verkauft war ich im Gästeblock. Weder vor noch nach dem Spiel habe ich Stress gesehen, obwohl es keine Trennung gab. Daran sollte sich Unberlin mal ein Beispiel nehmen.
