We hope you get as much out of the cities' football as we do.

There are stories within stories, teams of Turks, Croats and Italians in the pyramid. There's the fairytale stadium rebuilding at Nordsachsen or the rise and fall of their arch rivals, the GDR's most successful team, Hühnerhof. The giant Erna, who attracted more fans on their first day in the 2nd division than the previous year in the Bundesliga, or the former monster TeBe who, in the absense of a sponsor, adorned themselves with the name of a local squat/arthouse.

Anyone who reads the oh so critical Ex-Berliner is most certainly sure to be a Pauli fan and have therefore absolutely no real interest in football at all, hence the importance placed on the multiculti romanticism of ivory and slightly darker ivory pyramids in the park.

Nonetheless, I am looking forward to hearing one more time about how Nordsachsen fans built their stadium themselves and are simply the greatest fans ever - but only because I wonder if this tearjerker "fairytale" bullshit seems any more believable in English. And then of course reading about the great atmosphere at the Olympic stadium will be really super - last season it was half empty, this season it is half full - and against teams that most Ex-Berliner readers couldn't even find on a map. On top of that some reports on sleeping giants and heroes to zeros of the Oberliga could have me orgasming my way to football cliche heaven! I feel bohemian already.

Fuck it Bungle, you are correct... it is all sounds so ridiculously hideous that I might actually have to read it! Damn! And I can't even remember the exact reason why about 5 years ago I swore never to read that "paper" again.

" or the former monster TeBe who, in the absense of a sponsor, adorned themselves with the name of a local squat/arthouse."

"Now stuck down in the Oberliga with only their memories of Sepp Herberger there is still a proud club at the heart here and one that is trying gamely to reposition themselves in the 21st century as a rock and roll football club rooted in their tradition and community"

"It is home to Tennis Borussia, whose fans flock to the far terrace opposite the classically designed main stand and sing through all weathers in the shadow of the nearby Funkturm"
